Help me build a pissed off TC88?
not to where youde ever notice it,we do a lot of 124`s and my personal 2002 RG has a 124",they wick up just fine
I've got a stock 1999 TC88(a) with about 65k miles. It's time for cam tensioners so I figure I'll just do the whole damn thing.
I have engine assembly experience and really enjoy the work so I'm looking to put this together myself.
HOWEVER, I'm new to V-Twins.
That said, I like high-strung naturally aspirated engines and would like to turn up the "angry" factor on this little 88. Not really looking for a specific power figure. Really more interested in the character of the engine. Fast revving, choppy idle, wicked bark, drag pipes (regardless of their poor torque)....
I'm very flexible but right now thinking a 97-100", gear drive cams, head work, ignition, carb, etc. Not terribly interested in opening up the bottom end.
What should I do to get there?

Setting all other options aside and directly addressing the OPs question, a strong 98" motor can be built for $5K, if that is what he wants and plans to do all the work himself; I have done it. The total cost did not include exhaust or new T/B but did include sending crank to Hoban Brothers for T/B/W. If the OP wants a "really pissed" off motor, static CR needs to be up near 11:1 or even a bit more with CCP above 200psi, good tune and, IMHO, 2:2 exhaust like Bassani Pro Streets or Rinehart Crossbacks; much better sound than 2:1 and those two will perform as good as most 2:1 systems as long as the components play well together. The OP can expect 115-120 numbers with the right combination of parts.
