pulled the oil pump apart in my 14 Street glide an saw what looked liked scaring on the thick gerotor an a little on the housing. I ran my fingernail across it an couldn't feet it catch but it doesn't look pretty.
I've heard there's a "screamin eagle" oil pump but I can't find a part number.
surprised you cant feel the grooves with a finger nail.looks like this one slipped thru quality control, gears have weird machine marks as dose the pump itself.ide replace it,go with the blue S&S pump
that would be a judgement call.
where all the action is between the outside and inside tooth mesh.
it could be some grit got in between the pump housing and outer rotor. if you cannot feel the grooving, it is probably micro polishing.
why did you pull the pump, issues with pressure?
bike has 40K on it an I pulled the the cam plate to change cams so I did an inspection. If the oil pressure gauge in the info center is accurate I had good oil pressure.
Debris passing through the pump did not cause the scoring. I agree with Kirby, the scoring looks like machine tool marks. Having said that, debris passing through that could leave those marks, the OP would have more serious problems; replace it.
Post a picture of the surface of the cam plate at the interface with the pump.
