I’ve never heard anyone say anything negative about the 48’s. I’d highly suspect your friend either didn’t tune it after the install or had a bad tune done. The 48’s are great low end cams.
That or someone told him they were great cams with no comment regarding the RPM range and he didn't like them because they fall off around 5000.
why wouldn’t you recommend it for the street glide?
I assumed most of your riding is without a passenger and more spirited than the way I ride. I like the 551 cam because almost all of my riding is between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm and with a twitch of the wrist climbs steep hills without down shifting. The downside is going through the gears when riding alone is in my opinion lacking. That is why I think the 48 would be a better fit for a street glide.
