Default Cam - Street glide 2007

Good day,

I am aware that this topic has been discussed a lot however I would like to hear some advise....

My bike has already the following engine upgrades

1. S&S big bore kit 106
2. S&S cams 551 easy start
3. S&S oil pump and cam plate
4. S&S power tune headers and rinehart 3.5 slip ons
5. S&S quickee pushrods and s&s premium tappets
6. S&S stealth air cleaner
7. Thundermax ECU
8. Screaming eagle 50mm TB with 4.9 injectors
9. AIM VPC, S.E Compensator and baker attitude adjuster.
10. Redshift dual cam piston tensioners
11. Jagg oil cooler & S.E phat spark plug wires
12. minor head work in order to accommodate the 50mm TB and larger intake valves.

My problem is that the 551 cam peaks at abt 4.200 RPM as we all are aware...

I would prefer a cam which start at abt 2.000 RPM till 5000 - 5.500 RPM.
also i dont want to go to head work or change anything else except a cam swap.
I have been advised that the S&S 570 would be the best choice but have read that it starts at abt 2.800 RPM and has the same side effects at low end torque as the 585.

Is there any cam (i dont care abt the brand of it) that will fit the RPM range i am looking for considering the upgrades I have made so far or head work is required also....
bike compression assume that it is 10.0 as per S&S specs..

Thanks
Vasilis

With the early intake close of the 551 cams and if actual static CR is 10:1; corrected CR and CCP are pretty high; it would be helpful to know more about the configuration of the motor, i.e., head gasket thickness, chamber volume, piston dome volume, dyno results, etc. but base on the information provided and a cam only substitution you might consider the Cyclerama 570-2. Corrected compression and CCP will come down but still be at a reasonable level to support performance. IMHO, the 551 was not the best choice for this build.

Djl thanks for your reply.

Although I can order the cyclerama from US it would be preferable for me if another brand (available in Europe) may fit the current set up I have in order to avoid delivery delays...

available brands are
1. S&S
2. Andrews
3. redshift
4. fueling reaper
5. Screaming eagle

assume that S&S 570 cam will start from abt 2500 or 2.800 RPM abt so it will be more a mid range cam
the 570 II you have suggested looks very good as I have seen some reviews...
Is there any other cam similar to the cyclerama 570II from the first 4 brands I mentioned.
in case not I will try the cyclerama...

thanks

There are some good cams in the your list; just have to dig into details and compare profiles but none will have a similar profile to the Cyclerama cams. JMHO but the 570-2 is worth the wait.

Good day Scott,

So between the following three cams you recomend the third one considering my set up?

1 . S&S 570
2. Cyclerama 570-2
3. S&S MR 103

Just for my reference the other two cams are abt the same considering the RPM range they start / end?

S&S recommended the 570 for my needs / current setup.

Thanks
Vasilis

I put an S&S 107 Big Bore Kit in my 2008 Street Glide. I went with the S&S MR 103 cam. Love it. Kept the stock head. Good power from about 2200 rpm on up. Great torque. It was recommended to me by one of the tech guys at S&S. He didn't steal me wrong.

Just did a 107" w/o heads with an MR103, for a client in Niagra Falls.
99 hp 119 ft/lbs.
Did another with our Stage II Heads.....112/125.
Not the peak number so much, but how they are instantly up on the big torque.
Both were at 10.0 cr.
