Default Another Cam question...09 Heritage

2009 Heritage Softail with 32,000 miles on it.

Stage one with Vance and Hines true dual exhaust and SE compensator installed. I also have the Vance and Hines FP3 on its way.

What cams would you suggest? I ride two up but my passenger weighs 105 pounds soaking wet. I'm looking for some better throttle response and just over all faster more power to my 96cu motor. I ride with a guy who has an 88Cu upgraded to a 96 with cams and he eats me up!

I was going to ask what cams your friend is running, but are you sure your buddy's not a 95"? Going to 96 from an 88 is expensive since you're into a stroke, i.e. new crankshaft. Most folks who do that go to 103" or bigger. I have a 95" in my 2005 springer and the motor is a beast. It's got high compression SE heads with compression releases, but I digress. The question is, what's a good cam choice for a 96, medium weight? You might have a look at the 107" kit from Head Quarters. The price is less than $1k on their web page and the dyno numbers border on disbelief. You simply re-use your unmolested stock heads which net you a compression boost and their cams apparently take good advantage of it. I was looking at this kit for my '07 RKC but I sold it to one of my sons instead. Here's the Head Quarters link, hope it works:

If you're handy with a torque wrench you could bolt this together yourself, but add in the cost of good tools for cam bearing replacement. Good Luck with your project, should be fun however you go!

We would bore your cylinders to 107", and use either an S&S MR103EZ Start, or an S&S .570EZ, depending on how you want the power.
Once dyno tuned, your bud will in the rear view mirror!
Headwork will only enhance both.

You're correct, he's a 95 not a 96.
