Default miss or back fire

I purchased a 2003 FXSTDI Anniversary deuce recently. It has 29k miles on it. Occasionally, I have what seems to be a spit, or small type of backfire coming down from the breather area. It only does it once(single pop) a short time after heading down the road. You can definitely feel it when it happens but disappears and everything goes back to normal. Has anyone had this to surface in their 88B. Was curious if this is leading up to something that could turn into something major. Any info would be appreciated.

Is the bike still in stock trim?

Just a bit of advice, nothing to do with the spit/backfire, but at 29K miles, cam chain tensioers should be checked and possibly upgraded to CYCO tensioners.

No, actually the bike has an after market front wheel and a few small items, but I don't see where that has anything to do with the misfire etc. But thanks for the advice on the guides, shortly I plan on changing all fluids as I don't know how long this oil has been in the bike, will change the chain tensioner guides and evaluate the cam chains guide. Really not sure if some of the upgrades have been done already. Hopefully so.

Sounds like a lean condition.

Thanks, Scott. Just for the heck of it, I cleaned the air filter and reinstalled. So far I haven't noticed the misfire.
