Dynatek 2000 tc ignition thoughts if you have one...
Did a little search for settings and saw the 36a was the starting point that was recommended.
So I set it to 38a... Over all first impressions it has more pull in the seat of the pants.
So I was wondering what your thoughts and opinions are if you are running one of these ignitions and what you have yours set on...
One thing I don't like is now I have to turn off my signal lights as they no longer cut off on their own...
OH yeah.... WTH.... Harley made this thing a pain in the *** to change too..... WHY?
So will set at 36 and try it again..
Also noticed that the turn signals do not cut off shortly after the turns now so blah blah on that..
Will try 36 tomorrow.. Hopefully I do not have to take off as much as I did ti install it!
Backed tune back to 36 put in some seat time, bike rode good like it did before I installed the new ignition.
No backfire, smooth ride...
So today I bumped it back to 38, pulls much stronger, seems to have a smoother acceleration and pulls stronger thru 4 gears.
So I did a fill up during the ride, first start let bike turn over and then gave it a pump fire right up, moved the bike to get a drink and then re started bike pumped it before I turned it over, backfire.... Think a dude **** himself.... O well his issue!
And I know I didn't give info about bike, so here's the short list... Seriously..
01 fxdl
Andrew's 37 cams, tensioners replaced with gears
Re worked Cv40 carburetor
V&H straight shots with torque inserts
My wants are a 2 into 1 exhaust long pipe, I like the look more...
And thought about having heads ported and polished? Not sure if there would be any gain tho...
Big sucker stage 1
tbr 2 into 1
also curious if you can run stock plug wires or need to upgrade? Read in the manual it states suppression wires. Not sure if stock are suppression or not and cant find much info on that.
It actually melted the electrode in both plugs.. I was running Hotter than the devil....
But it did pull way better than the factory module.
Compare the timing maps. DTT on the right switches to the recommended 5/5 for stage 1 (could probably add a little) compared to a Dynatec. Notice that the Dynatec timing sags at WOT in the midrange then becomes way too far advanced as the RPMs climb.
I lied..
I tried one didn't like the way it behaved so went to a Crane then a DTT. Both Crane and DTT were good but the DTT would allow for programmed maps.
