May be a foolish question; are 96 and 103 heads Interchangeable?

Yes and no. The 103's have compression releases. The 96's don't.

Ok, so I have a 96 incher, I've seen a set of 103 heads for sale port & polished by J.Sachs racing. Looks good and reasonable. Will compression releases work?

Yes the compression releases will work if you "enable" them ... It either requires a factory harness or wiring the releases through the start switch

not all 103's have ACR and there is a difference between acr's and manual comp releases. post up some pix,,,,,most of the time there is no interchange issue, just do your homework,,,get a part number or a casting number, or call John and just ask him.
