Default twin cam tensioner Question

I was just wondering if people have had the tensioner's go bad in the 96 or 103 motors?

I have a 2005 88 and yest I replaced them with HD upgrade kit about 14000 miles ago. I was just wondering what the lifespan of the hydrolic upgrades would be.

Not really heard of any failures yet, I sold my 96” at 92000 miles and the shoes looked very nice the guy that bought it said...

i've got a 2011 bike with 78k on the clock and the original shoes are worn about 50% into the shoe, bike has a mild cam in it with stock heads and is ridden very hard, needless to say it's gonna get new ones since it's here and torn open. i would say if there is 50% or less left, to just go ahead and change them.

They seem to hang in there fairly well.
40-50K is what we've seen on replacements.

Here is a set that I replaced with 40k on them. It was in my 88" with the hydraulic conversion. They are the same tensioner used in the 2007 and up twin cams. They would have gone many more miles.

With those at 40K, they would have gone 100K easy.

Replaced mine at 62,000 along with cams, lifters and bearings. I plan on opening the cam chest again at 120,000 which will be the end of this season to reinspect.

The 2007-up chains do not appear to have the burrs on them, as the silent chains once did.

If you have the SE upgrade kit then you would still have the inner silent chain on the cams. I would be concerned with how that inner tensioner wears on that silent chain.
