Default Gasket question

A few years ago I purchased a take off set of 103 jugs and pistons to swap on my 96 ci. I am finally getting around to installing them but I need a gasket kit to complete the job. I would like to use cosmetic but wanna make sure I order the right kit. I plan to use .030 gaskets or maybe thinner if i can. I will use the stock heads with this build.

Order the Cometic gasket for 3.875" bore; same gasket as for a 95"; I forget the Cometic PN. IIRC, there is a .027" gasket available as well if you want to squeeze a little more. Follow the Cometic torque instructions and do not use the o-rings at the oil return dowels.

I have been using CYCO gaskets for years; same quality as Cometic but cheaper. The PN for the CYCO MLS head gasket for 3.875" bore is hgbt-mls-bb030.

Curious to why you don’t suggest using the oil return o rings. Also Thanks for the heads up on the head gaskets. I was hoping to find a top end gasket kit so I can have it all.

CYCO sells a complete top end gasket kit. The oil return o-rings are not compatible with the MLS gaskets, most of which, including the SE part, are form fitted to the dowel which leaves no space for an o-ring. Follow the instructions that come with whatever gasket set you buy.
