Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Eight, you are such a nit picker. Frankly I wasn't paying attention to the OPs handle; my bad. I am pretty sure he knows the UK equivalent of HF and I think Machine Mart is it as well as Draper Tools.
I still want to hear the new video and hope it sounds better than the first one.

keep attaching it, and hitting upload, but it doesnt show up in the forum. Screw it, Ill put it on YouTube
Second video does sound better; could be your exhaust just isn't appealing to my ears. However, with the exhaust leak gone, I do hear rocker arm noise like a lifter is losing prime. Still worth taking a look in the cam chest and rocker boxes. If all checks out OK, ride on. No need to drain the oil but you will lose a cup or so. Get some heavy duty foil and create a trough to catch what does come out.
Doesn't sound like a header leak to me but easy enough to check. I still hear valve train noise and don't believe the bike is running as good as it should but that's JMHO. I would be digging in to find the source of the noise.
Finally had time to work on the bike today, got the cam cover off, was looking for tensioner wear and thinking if they were worn Id get the Screamin Eagle hydraulic upgrade kit. How shocked was I to see it already has one fitted. There was a little oil sludge in the bottom of the case, traced it to a filthy oil tank, black sludge a few glittery flakes. All cleaned up and fresh oil change, turned the bike over to start the oil pump working, then started it, and it sounds like garbage, the first video again. Is this to do with the hydraulic tensioners? My thinking that until good oil pressure/circulation, the tensioners arent putting any tension on the cam chain?
Where in UK ?
So it's got the SE billet orange camplate? what cams are in it, could be lifter about to fail!
Im in Suffolk, yeah got the orange Screamin Eagle cam plate and the hydraulic tensioner, didnt check the cams, the tensioners had no wear at all. Im thinking Ive got an oil circulation problem, I get back pressure in the oil tank, it shot the filler cap out yesterday before I took it apart, could be from the sludge in the oil tank.
