My current bike is a 114 with Intake exhaust and tune.
Was looking at the 117 stage 3 and it looks like a great kit. I am very new to Harleys and building them. Are the Harley kits similar to lets say the Ford performance kits? they offer some power but you can spend much less and get possibly more going aftermarket route.
Or are the Stage kits a great offering and only reason people do it the other way is if they want to?
My reason for wanting the stage 3 is it appears to give the bike more power (Obviously) but also gives the bike more top end. currently it feels super strong down low but seems to die a few thousand short of redline and looking at dyno charts i can see why.
Go easy on me and forgive my ignorance, when looking online i cant tell you what the good from bad parts. Now if we talk Ford i know exactly what to do but im just lost over here right now.

hp goal? 120-130 and for it to carry power up to redline.

From a few searches and also calling a few shops it appears the SE stage 2 power cam is the best bet for my wants. 430 MSRP and it does exactly what i want keep the power all the way to redline. most people are seeing 100-110 for power at the wheel which im ok with being as it is so much cheaper than the 1600 i was looking at.
Sounds to me like you just need the right cams. Get rid of those epa compliant ones that die off by 4000rpm.
S&S makes good cams.
You couldn't give me an overpriced stage anything kit.
I agree that the cam is definitely the issue. From the looks of it going with the cam and pushrods would put me almost exact same price as the SE setup.
I appreciate the input and now its just time to research which cam is the right one.
