I have an 09 flhx that’s been modified. Having some valve train noise. Upgrades are dark horse crank S&s 10.6:1 pistons woods 999-6 cams s&s oil pump and cam plate. Woods alpha directional lifters. Adjustable pushrods. Head work. 58mm throttle body upgraded rocker arm support plate s&s roller rockers. Any advice is much appreciated I’ll try and post a video
Could be as simple as a mal-adjusted pushrod... but I'm certainly no authority in this forum. Will sub to the thread. For what it's worth: pushrod actuated air-cooled engines are supposed to be noisy like a 1920's sewing machine. I've got an angry one in the garage.
Have a look around my website, might be just what you need

I found that when I went to adjustable s&s pushrods they would touch my stock pushrod tubes. Causing a tick. I chased my tail doing rocker lockers which helped but didn't kill the tick. I even shimmed the rocker arms to take some of the slack out. Added half a turn on my pushrod adjustment.
That does not sound like Lifter noise.. I would pull the rocker covers and inspect for rockers tapping the cover on the inside.. I sounds like a clearance issue...

thank you I will take my covers off and see I did take out the webbing where they said to in the instructions for the roller rockers.
Not sure how different the covers are from 09 to 15 . I am running the same cams in my 15 rgs with my 107 build and didn't have to clearance the covers.

Are you running new rocker plates with S&S Roller Rockers? The arm for the valve is a lot higher in the forging to increase the support for the roller.
Checking for witness marks on the underside of the rocker cover is a good idea. However, Wood cams are know to have faster ramps; roller rockers are noisier than OEM and if stiffer valve springs were used in the heads, what the OP is hearing may be just a case of "it is what it is"; didn't sound alarming to me.icon-wink:
