Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Yes, I'm embarrassed to write up yet another thread asking for cam help, but I've searched and read through a decade's worth of posts and not finding much of 96" softail cam upgrades. Mostly for baggers and two up riding.
So my 09 Night Train (13k miles, KN Filter, V&H Big Radius, FP3, stock motor) will be hopefully going under the knife this spring for a cam upgrade and I'm looking to give my little bar hopper a bit of pep. This will be used 100% solo riding and mostly around town and poker runs and I plan on just doing a cam swap, no headwork as of yet. I'm leaning heavily on the Woods 222 or Andrews 48H but I've also been contemplating the Fueling 525. We dont have a dyno-er around my parts so just being able to pop in the cam, get a FP3 map for it and autotune is about as good as dialed in as I can get. I'm aiming for low and mid range torque. Any words of wisdom out there?
The Andrews 48 was made for your bike. I have one in my 103 Low rider and I couldn't be happier. Don't get caught up chasing a couple of hp and tq on a light bike.

I'm certainly not worried about getting the highest numbers, I'm just not wanting a cam that all low and mids and then dies at 4k or one that doesn't work well at stock compression.
I had the 48H in my 96" Dyna and loved it. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.
Seems to be a toss up between the 48H and 222, but usually people go with the Andrews to save money. But I've also heard good things about Fueling, just surprised I don't see many people running them.

Went a head and ordered what I think is most popular cam for the 96", the Andrews 48H. Should be here Tuesday and should have it installed by Friday!
