Understanding nitrous, and what it does is very important. All in all, since it was developed for aviation and short field take off, I believe it is a very safe way to add oxygen to cylinder fill. This extra oxygen requires more fuel. I got bikes out there tuned for nitrous on the street that have put 50- 60,000 miles on them. Never had a problem. I can't speak for others or how they set them up, but if you have problems. It will boil down to a couple of things. First you have no idea what you are doing and should step away. Some application aren't suited for nitrous at all. The other is people don't know what it is or what it actually does or how to best use it for their application. A 15 shot of nitrous and a 2 stage, 150 collective shot can not be treated the same. A 15 shot can be done on a stock ECU and the IAT if set correctly can deal with the extra fuel. The other is going to require a separate cal or a piggy back tuner to add the fuel and retard the ignition. A stand alone ECU that controls the solenoids directly is the best bet. How much more power are you looking for and what are you willing to do to achieve that safely?
