Default O-ring loose

Hello,

I found this o-ring when removing the lifter cover. It may have fallen down when cutting the pushrod, but it is hard to believe that, considering the dirt in the groove where it should have been seated. (See photo above.)

Now I wonder if anyone here at the forum has experienced the same thing. And I also wonder what effect it could have had. (I have had low oil pressure with red light at hot idle, and also a certain power loss as soon as reaching normal engine temperature, aspecially noticeable at low rpm.)

Your thoughts and experiences are much appreciated. Thanks
OakMountainRider

Oh, I missed the text. I don't see how it could get below the pushrod cover. I am thinking just fell as moved stuff around??

Yep, it could have fallen down there when the pushrod was cut. But one must actually squeeze the o-ring to an oval shape and then push it through the hole for it to get down there. It made me quite puzzled to find the o-ring there - kind of mysterious...

Does it fit the upper were it goes?

I have seen that when I use DowCorning o-rings lube. It has a ingredient in it that swells o-rings.

I only use it on a o-ring that is totaly static. No were like a revolving shaft would be.

It swells them and seals like crazy like the pushrod covers. When you pull them apart, they jump out.

It's obviously the same stuff that's in Blue Devil power steering stop leak.

Yep, it still fits where it should have been.

If that O-ring wasn't seated properly before you took the cover apart, you'd have had oil everywhere down there.
This is not the source of your oil pressure/performance issues.
