Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I picked up a 1996 heritage soft tail classic. It had some electrical problems got them figured out now looking to reseal the engine. It has been sitting for a while and it looks like some of the gasket have gave up the ghost. The lower cylinder gaskets and the primary chain gasket are the main leaks right now. Was figuring to just go through and reseal everything. Any one have any recommendations on a good complete gasket and seal kit. I am getting lost in the kits and i am not super familiar with the brands but i was looking at a cometic complete overhaul kit c9748f. What would you guys recommend? If i am gonna spend money what to make sure the price matches the quality and i am not going to just have to redo it again.
Hmm, i am not seeing a complete set. Also the primary kit looks like it is only the front cover gaskets?
I mean i the primary kit and a head kit would fix leaks i have now, but i really have a feeling like i should just strip the engine and do them all. ill do some more digging on their site.
I bought cometic, which includes bottom end,cam chest and primary. What sucks is it just a big heap of orings and you have to figure it out
Yup felpro for automotive is the same way here is a bag of fun go figure it out. The be is when you have extra and your not sure if you missed one or if they just have extras so you spend a extra hour or two going through every thing just to make sure. lol
