Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
HRFB mentions that they have the stock guides.. Sounds like the econo port job.. Might want to upgrade the heads some.. Will likely need springs..
Been running the 9b in my 107 all bore fxdx and like the cam. Impressive midrange.
The iron guides that I spoke of were of the stock heads that I removed from the original motor. I do currently have Hillside stage 2 heads on the bike with bronze guides, "650 lift springs w/1.90/1.615 valves.. They're all set up, stage 2. I feel the stock heads pipes with the Rush slip ons will suffice nicely for what I want to do.. If I can get a job.. I am getting older..
That's one thing about the area I'm live. You can find a decent job in a day. I spent a week. Sending out 7 resumes. Got interviewed at 3 and had my choice of 2 immediately. The third abs one I really wanted just called so I'm leaving a cnc machinis job I just started at for John Deere and I'm 61 years old. Great starting pay and 100% company insurance.
And I was looking by choice. Still had a job. Just wanted a change.

I hear ya. A 70mph rollover in an 18 hauling anhydrous ammonia nearly killed me 4 years ago and left me struggling to get out of bed everyday. That's why the change.Tired of dealing with ******** in 4 wheelers everyday and DOT besides..
probably don't have to tell you the cold doesn't help.
I pull this pic out everytime I start whining about my aches and pains tho. Reminds me I'm lucky to be here. Good luck bro.

So you are a CNC machinist? Which CAM software were you using? Doing any of the CAD? Fusion? Solidworks?
No idea. Even the guy that trained me doesn't know what software version it runs..I just run a cnc grinder that grinds the shafts for rotors and **** we use in fractional motors. That armature is one of hundreds of parts we make from bar stock.
How would like to use this bad boy to check your crank? Within a billionth of an inch. The top on that probe is over a hundred bucks every time ya bust one. Just one of many little tools I use to check tolerances. Really quite boring actually. I just learned how to program the grinder. I'll post a pic of it you'd like. The coolant turns my hands to prunes every day.
To bring back an old thread, I do not have Dyno numbers yet. although I do have a couple of videos of the first and second heat cycles. I need to pull the primary and install my Barnet clutch along with a 30 tooth front pulley this weekend, then I will be off to the dyno.
