My aim is to convert the belt drive to a chain drive with all parts in black. However, my local Harley dealer/shop cannot find the 46 teeth rear sprocket in black – only in chrome, and say it cannot be spray painted. They have all the other parts of the chain conversion in black.
My Harley is all matt black, so I really do NOT want a chrome part.
Does anyone know where I can purchase the sprocket in black?
Any advice would be very much appreciated as I have been waiting 3 months from the dealer, only to be told they can only get the part in chrome!
well the dealer is wrong.
take it to a powder coater. he will media clean the sprocket and color to your desire.
the chrome does not have to come all the way off, just enough for the powder to have a good base.
if you want a cheaper route, sand the sprocket down with 80 grit, get a self etching/filler primer and the paint to your color. the fusion paints seems to hold well.
