Thinking of going with Kibblewhite manganese guides. Any reason to ball hone after reaming? The AV&V reamer is considerably more expensive than the Kibblewhite, anyone have an idea why?
You really don't ball hone a guide, you brush hone.. Whether it's necessary is open, I'd look at how good a new valve slides into the guide. A little tight or rough feeling, use the brush or even use a full blown sunnen hone. A good ream job will likely not need any more steps if you have the right size..
The big issue is that for the manganese guides, you need a carbide reamer. If the kibblewhite guide you are looking at is high speed steel get the AVnV. IIRC kibblewhite might sell a cheaper carbide reamer. If not AVnV.. There are cheaper quality carbide reamers out there if you want to look.
