Default While replacing the cams

So I have decided to spend a little money on the 2011 SG instead of buying new.
Think I will add dropped bags while at it.
Already have Stage I with tuner, pipes and air cleaner so now adding SE-255 cams to make Stage 2.
Only have 15k on bike since this was the wife's and now making it the primary.
I will change inner Torrington bearings while there but is there anything else that should be changed since it is low miles.
i.e. chains, guides, lifters
Thanks, Mark

Your ride go for it.
I would question why you would go with SE parts with out a warranty threat. You get better cams all the way around with aftermarket. You will need a tune. SE tuner is a joke.

Grab a good set of lifters and adjustable pushrods

Replacing lifters with a set of Johnson Hy-Lifts from WFO Larry would be a good idea but you don't need adjustable pushrods with the SE cam; same base circle. There are better aftemarket cam choices, like the Andrews 48 but if looking for TQ, the 255 will deliver. Yeah, you have the Power Commander (not the best) but avoid the Stage II "flash" or maps; get the bike on the dyno and tune. If funds are available, ditching the PC for the Power Vision and dyno tune would be a better way to go if you plan to keep the bike and more upgrades down the line.

Might as well change the chain tensioners while you’re in there. They probably aren’t in need of replacement, but you’re in there and they’re cheap enough. It’ll prolong opening up the cam chest again, to replace them later down the road.

also curious about your cam choice, not that the
SE255 is bad. But there are certainly better cams out there that net more Hp and Tq across the board than the 255’s.

Agree with djl's post

Also IMO, at 15k miles I would not worry about tensioners. Inspect for sure but hydraulic tensioners last a long time. A little initial wear in from roller chain is normal. Save that money towards dyno tuning

Agree, ran a 255 in a 2011 Fat Boy Lo for a while, it's not bad like some make it out to be.

Last couple of years I've replaced a few Power Commanders on bikes in the same age as yours, If funds are available I would replace it

I don't see the point of replacing cams for "not bad" when there's clearly better choices but your dime.

I took my 103 apart when I bought it at 24K just to see how everything looked and to replace the inner cam bearings.
The tensioners were fine but because I already had a set, I replaced them anyway.
