Cam plate install issue

I am installing new cams in my 103. When reinstalling cam plate in case all feels good but cam plate does not go all the way in.It is about 1/4 away from being all the way to the case. Anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong?? Lifters are removed so its not hanging on them.

Had same issue when replacing my cams. I had wife gently push against plate while I turned rear wheel. Fell right into place.

Ensure only one oil pump O-ring. Easy to forget to remove case side and the add another to the plate. Otherwise as said a slight rotation forward or back on the rear wheel should get her in.

Did you remove the oil pump from the cam plate? If not you will likely have to rotate the crank until the gerotor lines up with the flat on the crank. Hopefully you replaced the inner oil pump O ring.
