Did wood cams, knight prowler lifters and fuel moto pushrods on my 103 about 3 years and 20k miles ago. Lost a lifter end of last year. Bummer but those lifters were noisy out of the box pushed into the lifters 5 full turns on 32tpi [fuel moto recommended this]. I replaced with s&s pushed in 4.25 turns and just got out for a ride. Night and day difference, no noise at all!🙂 not ripping the knight prowlers.......im just sayin'. It bugged me for 3 years!
The only thing that makes those night prowlers worth the money is fuelmoto. Had one get a stuck plunger in a guys bike I did a big bore on last year. Plunger was stuck and bike wasn't happy...luckily the guy is pretty laid back. Fuelmoto warrantied it and sent me a new lifter PDQ. I like the lifters wfolarry has. Theyre cheaper and better, something you don't get a lot of anymore. I've run the s&s standards before and never had an issue with them. I only replaced them because they had almost 25k on them in a 110 and I don't like to push my luck over a couple hundred bucks.
I dont know? I've got the 222 cams, maybe smaller but good low end torque. All I know is the s&s lifters are waaaaay more quiet than the knight prowlers. These were the older design with only one oil hole. I'm thinking they told me 5 turns on them because they had complaints about them being noisy. Everything I read on them before I bought them was 4.5 turns but when I ordered them they said 5 turns. Maybe the new 2 oil hole design is better I don't know but they are pricey as well.
Screamin beagle,
fuel moto is awesome in my opinion, everytime i call they are helpful.
my lifters were 3+ years old so they couldn't do anything for me but sell me new lifters. They asked if i wanted new knight prowlers, i politely declined and ordered the s&s and glad i did.
For TC the Woods, triple Xs and W5 is pretty quiet. The 6H, 8 , 9s are noisy but adjusting 1/4 turn from bottomed and Rocker Lockers help.. I suspect that travel limiters 1/4 turn from bottom allow the lifter to last a little longer..
I put a 117 kit on my 110 last year with woods 9b cams. Now my motor as a 110 with s&s 570s and headwork was noisy but had some rpm ranges where is quiet. Now with the woods it makes more noise with a much narrower quiet rpm range but you can't hear it when the throttle gets twisted lol. Sorry to derail the thread...but to stay on topic my hylifts from wfolarry are getting to the mileage that they need to be replaced. They've performed perfectly so I'll probably do another set but I wouldn't hesitate to use s&s
