Default 03 tc88 outer cam race removal

I’m replacing inner and outer cam bearings on my 03 FatBoy. Following the factory manual , I pressed the cams/bearing assemblies out of the cam plate. The ball bearing stayed with one cam and the roller bearing race stayed on the other. I think this is all normal if the book procedure is followed , even though most tutorials online show the ball bearing staying in the plate instead of on the cam.

My question is ,, I’d like recommendations on how to remove the old bearing and race from the cams. Procedure and or possibly a recommended budget friendly tool . I could use a local shop. I would much rather do it myself ,, without damaging the cams.

I bought the tool for the inners off Amazon.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Default Bearing knife puller ordered

Thanks ,, Just ordered a knife puller set.

My bearing and race are a very tight fit on the cams with little to zero shoulder to access with a mallet. The ball bearing stayed with cam when pressed out of the plate. The roller race is very close to the cam lobe with little to no shoulder ,, nothing that could be accessed with a mallet. Maybe I’m just not understanding that method.

Thanks for the “Bearing Knife” suggestion above ,, Found several reasonably priced online.

In the rear cam race, there should be a spacer/washer that you can get the knives behind. You will damage the washer. There should be a spacer, O ring and inner/outer race included in the bearing kit..

That doesn't damage your threaded rods with the puller jaws on them like that?

I guess it could if gorilla strength was required but the bearings don't take much to pull off with a little heat. After a few uses, a thread chaser cleans up any threads that may have suffered.
