Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I have a 70's engine that is being torn down.........................I know that someone out here in forum world has a better plan than me. I'm making a tool to hold the inner clutch member so that I can break the 1.5" nut.
I believe that I have seen where people insert a wedge between the chain and forward sprocket to break the nut loose, but I'm not comfortable with that approach until I get confirmation that this will not damage any .
thanks again. Primary drive

I have stuck hard plastic between chain. Pine board. I bought one the metal bars and didn't care for it. I have heard of rags, cooking boards. I use snowmobile slide, hard plastic
This is on twin cams. Check to see if either is left hand thread
Use a jam bar. I use a piece of 1/4x1xXXX lenght to go between the sprockets diagonally. You could probably go with 1/4x1 1/2x length with the 3 row chain. I don't use the wedges or steps either. IMO they put too much force on the shafts.
