I was talking to a mechanic who just tore down a hydraullic tensioner set up around 45k, where pads were gone, bad lifters, and debris. I thought that was early. I am going to replace my lifters replace pads since open to inspect at 70k this winter. I would add lifters to repladement list, personally.

There has been concern for years, are you new to Harley, about cheapening of crank. Also some concern about timken bearing , which was discontinued in 2002.some people wondered when Harley about increased run out spec too.
Later year 88s they cheapened crank too.
I go to a professional shop, and he says same thing. Harley was chasing it's tail when they went to 96" with problems.
