Once all back together do you recommend i turn over the engine with the plugs out till the oil pressure light goes out? or is that necessary?

Thanks ALL
Not necessary. You will probably get a bit of valve train clatter but the lifters will pump up quickly. Were you at TDC on the compression stroke?

Not necessary at all. If one or more of the lifters have a bit of air in them, they will quickly pump back up with engine oil pressure. You'll hear some brief ticking, but nothing to worry over. Fire that sucker!

I just thought it would prolly be better to start over......... now wondering what the procedure would be on that rear cyl since the lifters have already been bled down once.
.75 turns of that thread is .75 turns. There is no reason to start over. In fact, 3.25 turns is probably fine.

The reason you start on the base circle is to make sure you know where zero lash is. If it's just a matter of getting the right preload on there, a turn of the threads is a turn of the threads. If you want more preload, add it.

yeah, its easy to follow directions as long as it all goes as planned but if you gooch something up it doesnt tell ya what to do for that...... not knowing the implications if the lifters were bled down already or whatever...... im poor, cant take a chance of jackin the whole thing up.... so thanks all for the help!

Wow, three pages just to say,

No you do not need to “re prime” the lifters.

yeah, i started "fixin" on my 73 XR75 flat tracker, all my 2 strokes, lawn mowers, my 64 Impala SS and every car/truck to date. i like doing it, but sometimes it seems like trying to save money and doing it yourself backfires..... but now-a-days you can always go to the google or some forum and get solid info. and its always better to ask than just wing it and end up regretting it.

For future purposes, if you ever do that again you don't have to take anything apart.. You could have added more turns to a push rods, I've done it many times just to try to quiet them down a little more.. As long as you started with the cylinder at top dead center on the power stroke and you know you set it three and a quarter turns you'll be fine to just add another 3/4.. Yes it's that simple.. And don't worry about pumping them back up..
