Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
Thanks to everyone so far. I have a lot of respect for the people on the Forum.
So here are a couple reasons I am leaning on the SE255s
1. I have the HD Tuner and the Screamin Eagle Smart Tune Pro and my service guy recommended the 255s. Don't wanna have to buy a new tuner for an aftermarket cam.
2. Motorcycle mechanics around me are like finding a Unicorn. I trust my dealer( no real choice) service guy. He's also a wrench guy as well.
3. I Don't wanna do a ton of engine work. I'm fine with my motor. Just need a little more bottom end for 2up.
4. I don't wanna keep chasing a unicorn/rabbit....I have done that with my sound setup and am finally happy with where I am.
5. I have already read WAAAAAAAYYYYYYY to many posts about cams and feel overwhelmingly dangerous
Please keep the comments coming. I won't pull the trigger on this setup for a while yet. Bike is still in storage. It was ZERO on my way to work this morning.......
103 Twin cooled engines work well with the SE255 or the TTS100 (100 is a few pounds & ponies better across the board) with a free breathing intake and exhaust.
Here is B4 & after on each
TTS100
SE255
I would expect your current cam chest components to be in serviceable condition, based on the milage. I recommend using new lifters and inner cam bearings, as these items develop wear patterns.
If you have the water cooled, the 255 isnt that drastic.IMO, contact Fuel moto and roll with it...keep us updated!! I want to make a road trip myself!!! I already have a powervision...that may be an idea also...Ride Safe!!

There very well may be an HD map for the 255 but not for your intake and exhaust; you might get close but the motor should be dyno tuned. No need for a ton of engine work and the 255 will provide the added low end. Replace the inner cam bearings with the full compliment Toyo/Torrington B-168, retain the cam plate, oil pump, pushrods and chains and replace the lifters with a set of Johnson Hydro Lifts from WFO Larry. Mileage was never mentionde so tensioners may be fine but inspect and if worn, replace them.
I been running the SE255 on my 07 dyna and pretty happy with it. Really good low end. Got a dyno tune and made 83whp and 104wtq. Main reason I went with them was how cheap they can be found on eBay...
Your profile pic shows power duals not true duals. What mufflers does it have? It should have enough low end torque with stock cams, mufflers can hurt it especially when it isnt really tuned
Earlier I was going to post and mention the 48s by Andrews but I'm glad I didn't and in your situation I think you're making a decent choice.. If you're only choice is a dealer then the 255s will do you fine and I agree with the tuner you have, they'll be able to get it close to where you want it and you won't have any major issues and you definitely will enjoy the power increase.. It'll definitely make a nice difference... I just hope your dealer is decent at tuning and you'll be fine..
