Default Piston to Valve Clearance

Hello, Dyna 2006 here, bored to 98 ci. Present cam is Andrews 26 and I am planning for 57.

In doing this I am concerned about the valve to piston clearance.

Milled heads: -0.010 (-0.24 mm)
MLS: 0.040
Pistons: JE Piston 1:9.5, with dome 1.2 cc
Deck height: front 0.005, rear 0.002

Andrews 57 lift: 0.560”. Compared to the 26 (lift: 0.490”) it lifts 0.070 (1.78 mm) higher.

If I knew the original stock clearance I would feel more safe.

Anyone here know? Or what do you think?

Thanks a lot

Yes, I understand. You are right off course. Just thought I would get an idea, as I do not want to lift the heads.

hummmm
only other option is fly it and watch it
do not forget valve springs, just as catastrophic
you can always fly cut the pistons but check the mfg before doing so.
been there done that modifying two cycle pistons for 5 port.

FWIW
98" 1.90 valves
.015 off of heads
570 cams
3cc dome on pistons
no issues

What is the thickness of your head gaskets?

Thanks for this information. First I did not understand your post, because I did not know what fly-cutting was. Then I googled. Well, that’s a smart thing to do if clearance is not enough. This forum makes me wiser.

Whatever you do.. Clay it. Don’t trust math or another’s results.. Clay it. Get some super light springs to install and rotate the assembly.
I like a minimum of 40 thou myself. At higher rpm’s and heat growth you want some cushion.
