Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
yes you can bore the cases, i don't see why nikisil would be bad?? porche has used if for years and i had a turbo 944 running 14-17psi boost for a long time,i rode this hard and put it away wet regularly!!! when i blew a head gasket, i went to replace it and the car had well over 200,000 miles on it, no issues in the cylinder bores. I also work on Aprilia motorcycles with have used Niki from back in the days when they used Rotax engines, again very rare to have an issue related to that.
I have talked to the people at Revolution in the past and got a great feel from the conversation,,,,have considered this myself as well, just don have the cash.
do it!!!!

Bob my avatar pic is TC 4.250 cylinders from RevPerf. 10+k miles and it’s quietest motor I own. Scoped cylinders recently and looks great, zero oil burn, would do it again
I have rp nikasil 4 1/4 bore cylinders on my 131.. For some reason RP screwed up finish on the first cylinders that they sent out. They also used the wrong rings on the pistons. Moly filled top ring and Nikasil don't mix well together. I suspect they have it figured out by now.. One thing you need to make sure of is that you use cometic MLS head gaskets that have the fire ring embossed on the middle layer or you use copper head gaskets. The cometics without the embossment will eventually leak between the cylinder and the stud hole.

Honestly Max, If I do go this route it will be with a set of S&S 4.625" wheels.. Go all the way or go home... LOL..
The only issue there then would be the rest of the drivetrain (the trans, belt and complete clutch basket.
I imagine this combo would be 155/155 plus.. Whoa Horsey......!!!!

Mine made 144/146 though a 48mm Mikuni.. About 16 years ago.. Last time I ran it, it made 135 at a dyno shootout (no torque) but the CR was dropped from 11.5 to 11 when the CP pistons were swapped out for WIseco and I add a restrictor to the exhaust to quiet it down.
