Default 96 Pistons and Cylinders

Can I use twin cam 96 jugs form a 2009 on an 2001 88 twin cam engine? Is there any performance gain to doing this other than a little more cubic inches? Thanks!

Jugs are the same bore as an 88. 96 has longer stroke, so you wont see a gain other than having a fresh top end.

Standard bore for 88" and 96" cylinders is 3.75, therefore same bore on both. 96 inch engines have longer stroke making them 96's.

I did not know that.

but to help with the OP, it cost lots more to make it a stroker motor to get 96'' then to have it bored to 95'' heads and some cams. And yes it will be a big differance, 25-30 hp easy.

Agreed, If he's got the money the BB + cams, and headwork will gain him the most without splitting the cases. More horsepower = more money, lol. All i did to my 88 was the S&S 510's and oil pump, camplate change and PCIII and am totally happy with it for now. Thinking 97 Axtell kit and Mackie headwork with bigger cams this winter. ( hence more money= more horsepower, lol).

The bores are the same and the wrist pin location in the 96" piston is designed for the 4 3/8" stroke.
The quickest way to grab more from that 88"er is to bore those cylinders to 98".
Been doing that for about 4 years now with our proprietary Wiseco piston/gasket kits.
