fuel in cases
2005 wide glide. fuel injected. riding home 3 days ago. motor started running one cylinder. I shut off ignition and called a friend. brought home and put on hoist. fuel leaking out of air filter, fuel leaked until I removed quick disconnect hose from the tank. 2 questions. 1/ what would cause it to flow freely. 2/ how to get fuel out of crank case... Drained oil pan and removed cam cover and got more than a gallon of fuel./ oil mix . Any help is appreciated. . .
I've seen several DRZ400's with crankcases full of gas due to failed vacuum petcocks. We actually started one before realizing the problem. It ran, but so much smoke was coming out that I'm surprised a neighbor didn't call the fire department. Like the smoke generators on tanks and ships, it was unbelievable.

1) Injector stuck open.
2) Short to ground on an injector wire (injectors receive 12V all the time when the system relay is active and are triggered on ground side by ECM.)
3) Failed driver in ECM (Have seen this one personally and the fuel POURS out lol.)
After determining which injector it is you can swap injector wires and if it follows the wires it's the ECM or a wire. If it stops, look very hard for a chafed wire on the connector to the cylinder that was initially leaking because that means the short to ground was removed.
You can use a noid light on the injector connectors and see if it stays lit on one of them. If it stays lit with the power on, it's a driver in the ECM or a shorted wire. Last one I did was an ECM.
