Hey guys ,
I’ve got a 79 fxe.
i replaced the pushrod gaskets and the nose cone gasket on my bike.
i had to readjust the pushrods but i did according to the manual.
when i replaced the nosecone gasket i had to take the electronic ignition out and i put that back in afterwards also.
i also changed the intake seals from the o rings to the rubber band style .
my issue is i can’t get this ****er to start up .
i started it once but I had to hold the throttle wide open and it sounded rough.
im wondering if when i pulled the electronic ignition out if i threw it off time when I put it back in?
everything ive seen to time a bike it has to be running.
i just need a little insight in trouble shooting and narrowing things down.
any help would be appreciated.
Loosen the 2 screws for the timing plate.. Where those windows are under the screws, put them in the middle and lock them down.. It should start... If not, it's very possible, you adjusted your push rods too much herefore, you have no compression and engine.Doesn't want to kick over... Here's the proper procedure to adjust your push rods properly..
