scooter doesn't start
I am having issues with starting my bike. All has been good till my bike ran out of gas [wife forgot to give me my card back]. I had to walk it about a mile home. I did have the ignition on so my lights will be visible as I was walking reaching dark. I later got gas. The next morning the battery was dead. I jump started it and all was well. Started right up.
Lately, it has been unpredictable as if it will start or not. One day it will start. Be fine for a few days, the next day nothing. It will fire right up when I jump start it and will stay running. When it doesn't start, it will either try to turn over but doesn't or just click.
I had the battery checked at an auto parts store with 2 testers. He said the battery was good and fully charged.
I then changed the spark plugs thinking it was not getting spark. They were pretty bad.
Still didn't fix the issue. I took it to the Harley shop to have them test the voltage regulator, hoping it was just not keeping charge. They did a full test. Test came back ALL GOOD. The mechanic continued to check wires and cleaned up the battery cables. NO VISIBLE damage to wires.
As I left the shop it had a short delay in firing up.
I don't know as much about MC mechanics as I do with cars, as I am still learning. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions before I have to take it in to do a "full diagnosis", costing me an arm and leg when its most likely a simple, cheap fix?
ANY AND ALL HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Put the battery back in his bike. Again not enough power to start the bike. Put my battery back in his bike and it started right up. He is now buying another battery. See if you can borrow a battery from a friend and try it.
