Hi all
I have an 09 103 in my Ultra and it continues to drip oil off the air filter. Tried the mystfree and it didn't seem to help much. Had the dealer check the oil pump alignment and they said it off a tiny bit, and re set it but she still drips.
Doherty's power vent won't fit my bike so I wondered if anyone has made some type of fitting for the breather bolt that can let the blow by vent to the ground. If so, pics and other details would be nice
Thanks
I can't speak for the TC (never owned one) but on an Evo which in reality is a Shovelhead motor perfected, the MOCO, due to EPA requirements, had to finally make the motor oil tight. The last oil leak they had to deal with was one inherent to the engine design. And that was at higher RPM the top end pushrod oiling system (on the return side) was overcome by pressure which the gravity return couldn't handle. So they came up with a band aid. Breathers (should really be called Leakers) that routed that oil through the air cleaner and (theoretically) into the intake system to be burned. This made the EPA happy but that oil really gums up the inner works on both carb and EFI bikes, and as you've found out, it also still leaks.
If you're green the only fix is some sort of vented collection canister you'd have to empty periodically or if you're not so green just run a hose to the ground. Two short pieces of hose, a tee fitting, and one longer hose should do it. Just run the longer hose so it discharges outside the plane of your rear tire. I run mine through my right side forward control like this . . .
