Its hard to tell I can't see why they did not use a dot like the lower ring
Pretty common with many ring manufacturers. It's not hard to tell if you look at the cross section end of the ring with a magnifying glass; can't miss it. Welcome to the DIY adventure. Consider yourself lucky if this is the biggest problem you encounter.:icon-wink:
Also you can "roll" the ring in direct light; the bevel will show up that way, too. Sometimes the bevel is difficult to see, but it's there. Be careful, take your time. Don't screw that up, your motor will become an oil pump and be very low on compression. Go ahead, ask me how I know......
I looked theres no Grove it's the top ring looks like it can go either way
Not sure what rings you have and whether or not they were purchased separately or with a piston kit but I would take another look. Most top rings, regardless of manufacturer have a beveled edge/corner to force the ring out against the cylinder wall under combustion pressure.
Thanks but there's no edge. It must go either way. I'll ask a Harley tech before I install it to make sure
Well, one thing is a given. If you get it wrong, you will know immediately as the motor will be an oil burner and down on power. Be interesting to hear what your tech says.
