How bad is it if the Shoe, Sping and plunger are mixed up? I changed cam plates, and had to move the tensioners. Dropped the inner cam tensioner and it came apart. I think I put the spring in first, the plunger second, and then the shoe. Later in the evening I was going through my clymer 06-11 dyna service manual..page 159. It shows the plunger goes first, then the spring, then shoe.. If this is serious can I get the to inner tensioner without removing the pushrods/lifters? I used adjustables..but not the quick install. I had to remove the tank, remove rocker boxes, rockers. The bike is completely reassembled now, and I have started it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just to clarify, images of right (bottom)/wrong (top) assembly of a late model hydraulic tensioner are below.
Properly assembled, the spring sits atop the piston which provides a bit of a "cushion" as the chain rolls over the shoe. Improperly assembled, that cushioning affect is lost which would likely result in premature wear but that's JMHO. If it were mine, I would take it apart and assemble the tensioner properly. What adjustable pushrods did you use that required removal of the tank, etc. to install? You could buy a set of SE Tapered Quick install pushrods for about $135 from an online discount dealer like New Castle; cut your existing pushrods and save some time. It's a trade off manhours vs money; your call.
Lifters?? Nothing to do with R/R of the cam plate except that you need to hold them up to pull the cam plate and cams. We were talking pushrods; typo??
