Engine Light flashes on and off

I have a 1996 HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic and the Red Engine Light keeps going on, staying on for 20 - 30 seconds, then goes off. It will flash on and off like that during the entire ride. If the light is on and I pull the clutch on, the light goes off. I have checked the oil - oil is good and fresh. Anyone have any ideas? Could I be damaging the engine? What could be some of reasons for the light to flash like this?

Did you ever find out what was causing the light to come on ? I have the same problem with my 05 Ultra Classic .

I had the intermittent c/ e flashing.
Code reader suggested intermittent combustion .
Turned out is was coil issue.
Replaced coil and good to go.
