I have a recent problem of knocking coming from my engine. It's really hard to hear what part it's coming from but it sounds more like its coming from the right side around where the air filter or cylinders are. A day before it started, I pulled out and cleaned the carb and put it back perfectly and threw in a new set of plugs. It started to run beautifully after about an hour. Then that's when a knocking started. It doesn't happen at idle, or when it's sitting and I rev it. It only happens when I start out in first and second or if I'm going too slow in any gear. When I get up to speed the knocking goes away. I took it the the local HD shop and they said they would charge 1000 minimum to even start looking at it! Hahaha!! Are you ****ing joking?? So I said "see ya"! Can anybody shed any light or give me any tips or tests to try?
Thanks in advance!
The reason I ask is this... it could be the compensator, it could be the clutch, it could be something to do with the rear chain/ drive belt (you don't dont the year or the model). Just because YOU don't wish to spend the money does NOT mean the money should be spent. The easiest way to glory is to have a shop with a dyno, so that the bike can be made to make the noise while sitting still. Our bikes... BTs or Sporties make al kind of noises that seem to come from point X, when in reality come from point Y.
PM me and I wil tell you a good shop up your was that has a dyno and would be someone I would trust.
