You can put me in the "I've done that stupid thing" crowd. I rarely ever turn off the engine kill-switch. We had our bikes shipped out west once and the truck driver had the bikes on the ground when the airplane landed with us. My bike would not crank...would not say a word and after some several minutes, I was in panic-mode. The driver saw the crowd around the bike trying to figure out what was wrong, came over and flipped the kill-switch, it fired up and the rest is history.

my 02 fat boy did it a few times and would start up after and then finely would not restart, it was the ignition switch, the grease they used got old and hard and made bad contact. I cleaned it and sanded the contact down and it worked until I got a new one keyed the same as the fork lock.

My guess is you bumped your kill switch.

Had a battery short out on my '06 SG mid-stroke doing 80 about 10 miles from a tiny town in MT. Just running along and the gauges started going full swing back and forth, 30 seconds later motor quit dead. Got pulled over and turned off key, then back on and everything looked good, hit start, needles peg, then dead. Long story short, shorted battery.

If it's 5yrs old replace it. Be sure to get a AGM battery. The vibration kills other batteries.( and Inner Fairing Supports) '06 Street Glides shake, a lot!

Had the same intermittent problem and everything checked out fine. Replaced the ignition switch and never happened again...

If it came back on when you cycled the ignition switch, another issue could be the bank angle sensor. That was the issue with mine.
