Default Scissor Jack

I want to change fork and rear shock oil tonight.
I got a new Harbor Freight table yesterday and need a scissor jack.
So I went to the local salvage yard to look for a car jack I could maybe use.
I found one I think came from a '90s Chevy S 10, the guy at the yard gave it to me but could probably be had for 10 bucks or so.

A 14" piece of 2" channel fit good, so I welded it on.
The only other modifications I did was remove the handle so a socket could be used, and relocate and subsitute one pin with a bolt because the jack was designed to lift on a slight angle.

Threw some paint on it and it works just fine.

I figured other El-cheapo Evo owners like me might want to make use of one.

After seeing what they want for the lift jacks ($150.+), I did the same. I had a scissor jack from a totaled car. I cut a hole in a piece of 2x4 (I don't weld), and it has served me well for many years.

I bought one of those Drag Specialties wide flat scissor jacks and I don't think I paid anything close to $150.00.

Did the paint make that much difference?! I have at least two similar auto scissor jacks, including one compact one. I used to carry that with me on my shovel, way back when, and have done roadside puncture repairs with it.

Well yea,,, won best paint at the jack show.

Gonna build another one and just clear over the rust and patina, and enter it in the Rat Jack class.

Glue some rubber or carpeting on top of it.

Awesome. I am duplicating this before you apply for a patent.
