Default Little help please

Evening all,

I hadn't started my 84 FLTC in quite a while and I went out to move it and the battery was low and wouldn't start. I put the charger on it for a while and then went out and turned it on and all of the lights were good and then I hit the starter button and it all went black and not even a click. Is there a fuse somewhere I may have blown and if so where would it be located as I have no book on tis bike and have not had to do much to it. Any assistance (info) would be appreciated.

Sounds like it is time to buy a manual and a volt meter.
If it was a newer bike my first guess would be the starter relay but I don't know how yours is set up.

As the Doc said check battery cables and voltage on the battery.

It turned over when I first tried it then the battery went flat and then I had the issues after I put the battery tender on it.

As mentioned earlier check your connections. Then you may even check the battery voltage with a multimeter...
You may also remove the battery and take it to Auto Zone type stores and get a free load test done.

Thanks...yes I know how to use a volt meter I was just wondering if there is a fuse or relay I might be missing the location of because the dash lights went out a second after I hit the starter button the second time I tried to start it. My other Harley is a 2005 and this is a whole different animal.

FWIW I wasn't being a smart ***.
A manual would help you find parts on your bike and provided tests to make sure they are working correctly.
The newer (mid ninteys) starter relays for your bike used a 5 pin relay and the center pin killed the lights when the starter button was pushed but as I said I don't know how yours is set up.
You didn't post any voltage readings so I assumed you didn't have a volt meter (a mistake on my part).

I hope you find the problem soon.

No worries, I'm just trying to get it fired up and to a shop for work before it snows here which is supposed to be next week. It has never failed to start and I put a new battery in it a three months past but it has been sitting without a conditioner on it and went almost flat.
