I hope yours has better wiring connectors than my 89 I'm still working on. Had a lot of hacked and add on wiring, too, so I'm giving up and just re-wiring it. Amazing how many things I've found on it to fix, gonna be a bit expensive for just refurbishing an old bike with no special value, but it's what I want. Haven't opened the transmission yet, almost afraid to...

I hate hacked. I get "giving up" and "it's what I want" too. Helped a friend with one over the summer. No reference to anything that had been done and tons of unidentifiable parts from who knows how many different bikes in boxes. The bike had an auxiliary light bar, SE ignition module & rev limiter added, new console everything, toggle switch for the starter on the backside of the light bar and no signals. One look made us give up, get new switches, rewire what we could identify and run all new everything for the lights. Took us two days to figure out why the brake light didn't work. Bad ground.

I am pretty happy with what I've seen at a quick glance on the new WG. The rear turns have been replaced and the connector for those under the seat has been scabbed into but everything else electrical seems to be bone stock. Still has the original huge front turns. Looks to be a fairly easy job to do what I want to do. I'm going to draw up a schematic to keep in the manual to refer back to if ever needed.

Expensive OMG. Yes. "Assuming" everything is almost 20 years old and needs replacing is giving me sticker shock. But this is probably going to be my last bike so it's worth it.

Lord knows I'm no electrician and not a wrench by any stretch of the imagination. But, I am pretty good at figuring things out and sometimes know enough to not be dangerous and call for help when needed.

Completely scared out my mind to open everything up and go huh??

But I'm going to do it anyway. So...I started this thread to holler HELP! when (not IF) I get lost.

No lights but portables in my friend's garage but here's some crappy cell phone pics. The lady I got it from didn't have it long and loved it. Not my thing but I'm hoping it will maybe grow on me before I spend a gob more money on a paint job.

Hell I ain't a chick and I like it.
I already have a black one so I would leave it if it was mine.
Now if it was pink I would have to change it.

Please tell me you aren't thinking about painting that wonderful machine pink!!!!!

FWIW my cell phone takes better pictures than my camera.

No telling what's been done to it but there could be some nice motor upgrades in there. I'm sure I'll find out once it's opened up.

The bars have gotta go. I love the look but I can't handle it with my bum right shoulder. Hurts too much after awhile and my whole arm goes numb. 5" pullback risers and new bushings with some Flanders bad boy bars are already sitting here waiting to go on. Won't look as good but it will be way more comfy. A little lower and better hand position for me.

The front end feels a bit "loose" so it's coming apart to check and replace as needed. The headlight is getting swapped for a 7" to fill out the forks better when I do new front lights and springs.

Explain 3" over on the tubes please. It could happen!

Thanks!

Someone spent some money on it. It is absolutely a chick paint job. "Pretty" and real clean with only a little scuffing under the seat and one tiny chip in the front fender. Not my thing either ... stands out too much .... Hell at least I will be able to find it in a parking lot.
