Default wiring question on a 1990 softail custom

on the splash guard by the rear wheel, there is a relay and something else...one has the 4 wires with the threaded studs and nuts holding them on, and the other is the black relay with a 5 prong connector....but then there is a single black wire with a female flat connector....what is that wire, and where does it go! and what do each of those relays do on the splash guard? the single black wire is zip tied to the 5 prong connector.....

Hopefully someone will chime in!
I had everything working and when I installed the tanks, I lost all functions except the headlight and taillight. No brake lights signals, horn

If it is just black it should be a ground.
If you have the Factory Service Manual there is a wiring diagram in the back of it.

It's not part of the starter relay. It's a sperate black wire that's zip tied onto the one with the 5 prong. No where to plug it in near te relay or breaker

Oh sorry I misunderstood.
Can you find either end of it?
Do you have a volt meter?
