Default Tourglide Muffler question

I have a 1988 Tour Glide with stock mufflers. Iwould like to change them to something with a little bit of growl and will be looking for used ones. Can anyone tell me the years and models of Slip Ons that will interchange with my bike?

NICE BIKE I like stock, but yea I'd like little growl too, but I'll just leave it like it is.

I'm pretty sure that you need mufflers with the "flange type" fitting on the inlet. There is a special clamp ( clam shell type ) and a gasket that was used up until the early 90's. You can also change the head pipes ( 2007 and earlier ) will fit your scooter and you could then use typical slip ons.

If you really do still have the stock exhaust you've done very well! I bought my 1990 bike new and used two sets of original pipes and mufflers over the years, before replacing them with later spec parts. As Larry says, that year has a pipe to muffler clamp that hasn't been available for many years.

You can cut off the flare on the end of your pipes and use later mufflers, which opens up the entire spectrum of aftermarket stuff. You will also find that any stock or aftermarket pipes up to 2008 will fit - my photo below shows an '08 Supermeg system. So if you adapt your pipes or replace them the World of exhausts is your oyster!
