Default Exhaust question

Wondering if later style bagger head pipes will work on 86 slip ons ? Can the flares be cut off to match the pipes.Would like to keep em.Thanks for any suggestions

Unlikely IMHO. The other way round will work, in other words cutting off the flare on your pipes will let you use later mufflers. The earlier mufflers fit inside the pipes, while later mufflers fit over the pipes. Pipes up to 2008 will retrofit, although some '07 and all '08 pipes have O2 sensors, so will require blanking inserts.

On my 96 RK, I've had both types of pipe on the stock header pipes. When I got it, the mufflers went on over the pipes, I aquired a set of Kerkers (sound really good, but found something I like better :-D) that went internal. Wouldn't fit, so I used a tail pipe expander from one of the auto parts stores and stretched it out a little bit. Should work the same on both ends.
