Default Pre 95 Differences

Matbe someone can help me. Does anyone know the difference between pre 95 and 95 and post exhaust on baggers? I have a '92 FLHS and wanting to upgrade. There seems to be someting in the '95 area that chaned. I contacted Rinehart becuase that was what I really wanted, but they were pretty short and not helpful. I am wanting a quality true dual black exhaust. Any one that can help, I would appreciate it?

I know that the mufflers had a different fitment to the head pipes. Earlier heap pipes were flared so to speak and the mufflers had a ridge that mated to it and a special clamp. Later model ones have straight head pipes and the mufflers are slid over head pipes with a "fishmouth" slit on them and clamped with what resembles a heavy duty hose clamp. Not sure if there are any differences in the head to header pipe connection for sure but I don't believe there is. Hope this helps.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF.

What Randall says. Later mufflers won't fit your pipes. However later pipes will fit your bike, which lets you fit whatever later mufflers you like. I have a 2008 SuperTrapp 2-into-1 system on my 1990 FLHS.

If late style mufflers are wanted on early style head pipes all that needs doing is cut the "flare" off the older head pipes and slip the late style mufflers on. Did this to a buddy's '93 FL. Only about a half inch of pipe is lost, no problems caused by this.
