I am looking at a triangular swingarm solo bag for left side of my 98 Softail Custom. Just curious if anyone else uses one and if they have issues with it dragging on hard turns? Thanks
As long as you mount the bag high enough on the swingarm and your bike isn't significantly lowered, you should have no problem.
We make a bracket kit that lets you hard mount a solo bag on your bike and lets you position it exactly where you want it, so you can mount the bag up higher than the standard strap method will allow, to make sure you don't drag it.
We also make some really nice solo bags as well. You can use them with the kit, or on their own since they come with leather straps. You can find them here:
The last time I looked at the softail forum it was all about paint and pictures.
I have a hard time believing anyone over there works on their own bike.

I must admit I've never been there! The Sporty chaps discuss bags including that style quite often, silly me for thinking the Softail chaps might do so as well!
Reviving an old thread, yes, it happened to me, my bike has Shotgun Air shocks and although left turns are much less than right (most highway ramps are right) the bag was already worn out on the bottom after first year.
4 years later and I need a new bag for sure, the Duct tapes are at its ends
I am looking at a solution where I can put some sort of a horseshoe type metal piece in that area, should be interesting
