All years of Evo RK's are neat, 97-98's will accept parts up to 2005 RK's that opens up the market on parts availability that can save some coin on used or new items.
Evo members are on it as most likely a gasket or joint pulling in air on that front pipe or muffler area, don't overlook the simple stuff first with EFI. If the EFI does get irrattic, a carb change over is popular but we can supply info to tinker with the EFI or show direction on a carb change over. Bottom line, 98 is a good year for the Evo RK and actually surfacing as desirable if your into riding big bikes.
Was there a frame / body change in 97'? What is different on the 96's? Just wondered cause I could see myself getting one in the future.
I bought 97 with 7100 miles for $6900. a little over a year ago all original. Exception to the rule but they are out there. Get the carb version if you can.

I have a '96 RK and regularly get frustrated that a lot of accessories are for "1997-XXXX". I believe the frame was widened in '97 and the seat mounts changed. I've been trying to find an aftermarket seat and passenger backrest for a while but the pickin's are slim. Me...if I had a chance...I'd probably buy '97 or newer just for that reason. But I love my '96 and just make it work...
