Financially, my trees will have to wait because of the sidecar, however it looks like they will be even more beneficial for the hack.
They certainly would benefit a sidecar, but leading link forks would be even more suitable, possibly cheaper, if you can find someone who makes them or can do so:
I would keep the air setup, even if you change the internals, when it comes time to change fork oil, you'll be glad you did, and it sure won't hurt to have the adjustability of the air spring.
The guys telling you to get rid of the air setup don't have a batwing fairing, especially a pre '96 fairing.
on my 89 flhs I removed the air anti dive crap, tapped the caps and plugged them. Installed the white brothers spring kit with the pvc pipe "preloads". Worked well, then installed at least 2 more sets of handlebars... LOL! Good luck! Similar to this...
